Obituary of Joseph Jones

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On March 16, 1942, the late Chester and Elzena Jones (Bristow, OK) gave birth to a beautiful baby boy they named Joseph Jones. Joe, as most people knew him, was baptized at a very young age and united with the former First Baptist Church of Bristow, OK. He attended Lincoln High before joining his father in the masonry profession. In 1967, he met and married his beloved wife Ada Mae Checotah. Soon after being married they moved to Beggs and began their family with a baby boy they named Richard Jones. Joe spent most of his time juggling work and family responsibilities. After many years of being happily married, his wife passed away in 1982. Joe spent the next several years grieving over his lost. After many years of perfecting his masonry skills, he was well known as a Master Craftsman. Many of the buildings in and around Oklahoma exhibit his creative and quality craftsmanship. In 2004 Joe was blessed with a second chance at love when he met and later married Trena Wilson. They took up residence in Tulsa, OK and worked together doing what they both loved, farming and living off the land. Joe was a loving father to her children. After retirement he spent most of his time on the farm teaching the children about farming and caring for his devoted wife. During their union, Joe became increasingly aware of his spiritual need (Matthew 5:3). This yearning led him to peer deeper into the bible, accepting a bible study with Jehovah Witnesses. As he studied, he was amazed at the bible truths that were revealed to him and began attending the meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Joseph Jones was a “one-of-a-kind” man. If you were privileged to know him, you learned two things very quickly, he was a very happy and God fearing man. He made an impression on everyone he met. He brought comfort to his family and friends. Until we see him again he will be remembered as strong, loving and kind hearted. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Elzena Jones; his sister Claudine Jones,; two brothers, Lionel Jones and Charles Jones. He leaves to cherish in his love, his wife Trena and five children Megan, Mark, Malik, Malea and James, his son Richard Jones (Tamica), (Greenfield, IN); his name sake grandson Joseph Graves; five sisters Gwendolyn Jones (Tulsa, OK), Corene Ceasar (Desoto, TX), Betty Gill (Patrick), (Denver, Co), Delores Mack (Louis), (Bristow, OK), and Marilyn Gaines (Rufus), (Okmulgee, Ok); one brother, Chester Jones Jr. (Bristow, OK); his last remaining aunt, Rosa Lee Barnes (Tulsa, OK) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren. A funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Ninde Brookside Chapel. Ninde Brookside, 918-742-5556, ninde.com
