Obituary of Sue Gentis

Please share a memory of Sue to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Sue Graham Gentis, the best wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt that anyone could hope for, joined her parents, siblings, and dear friends in Heaven on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Born to Curt and Nora Graham in her family home near Glenpool on December 30, 1924. She had 3 siblings: James, Ralph, and Ray. Graduated from Glenpool High School and earned her Associate's Degree at Draughn's School of Business in Tulsa. Sue met Gerald Kenneth Gentis at a Jenks High School football game and two years later, they married in Gulfport, Mississippi on October 7, 1944, before Jerry was deployed to serve in World War II. They would have been married 70 years this October. Proud of her Oklahoma roots, Sue and Jerry raised three children - Gayle, Lynn, and Keith - and 1 granddaughter, Andrea - on the Graham Family Farm. It was established in 1905 and through the work of her son-in-law, Dr. Pat Baker, registered as an Oklahoma Centennial Farm. She was an avid reader, enjoyed politics, current events. She was a Depression-era hero of the Greatest Generation and a proud “yellow dog Democrat.” Sue was an active lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Jenks. Sue spent the majority of her career working as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Jenks Public School for 26 years. Above all, Sue was known for her beautiful smile, warm heart, and boundless love for family and friends. Sue is survived by her husband, children, and granddaughter. In keeping with Sue's wishes, they will continue to live on the family farmland that she loved so much. Celebration of her life will be Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., First Christian Church, Jenks, Oklahoma In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sue Gentis Memorial Outreach Fund through the First Christian Church of Jenks.
