Obituary of George A. Ware

George A. Ware was born on October 22, 1931, in Ft. Worth, TX to John and Nada (Hurley) Ware. He passed from this life on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the age of 82. George attended Central High School until moving to Peggs, OK to live with his grandparents. He graduated from Bagley High School in Tahlequah in 1949. After serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Delta as a Petty Officer during the Korean War, he graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. George went to work for Midland Guardian Finance and was promoted to Regional Vice-President of American Modern Insurance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana until his retirement. He was an elder at John Knox Presbyterian Church and Past President of the NEOSDA in 1970. George was a 32nd degree Mason and was a “49er” from Central High School. He loved family gatherings and his TU Golden Hurricane Football. He also loved playing golf, traveling and visiting area lakes and listening to his favorite music. George was also known for his love of all the holidays, especially Christmas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Johnny. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ellen (Williams) Ware; his children, Debi Waller and husband, Craig, George Ware, Jr. and wife, Lisa and Chris Ware and wife, Shelly; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great-granddaughter; several nephews, nieces and cousins. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2929 E. 31st St., Tulsa, OK 74105.
