George Arnold Carr, Jr. was born May 24, 1929 in Kings Mountain, KY to George Arnold & Clara Mabel (Caldwell) Carr in Tulsa, OK and passed from this life March 13, 2015 at the age of 85. George was active military for 6 years; part of that time was served in Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and returned to California. They were married 27 years upon his death. George had several hobbies, but his true talent was in his drawing. He was known for just giving these away to people, especially his holiday drawings. These drawings were signed with his nickname "Cricket"; which came from his whistle which sounded just like a cricket. He also enjoyed being around friends; especially at the Waffle House located on 49th & West Avenue in Sapulpa. He & Rosanne went everyday for the past 3 years. He & Rosanne were also members of The Harvard Avenue Baptist Church. George was preceded in death by his parents and his step-daughter, Lori Gurley. He is survived by his wife, Rosanne (Moore) Carr; his daughter, Patricia Louise Esse; his step-daughter, Julia Marie Wescot; his son, Steven Van Carr; his step-son, Joe Delacerda and his wife Mary; his brother, Eddie Decatur Drinnen; 13 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. George will lie in state 10-6 p.m. Sunday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. His funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Harvard Avenue Baptist Church, 3235 E. 17th Street.
