Susanne Ann (Rapp) Gauger was born July 23, 1935 in Stuttgart, Germany to Christian & Barbara Anne (Louth) Rapp. The youngest of four daughters she passed from this life on May 6, 2015 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 79. Susanne grew up in Germany during World War II and lost two half brothers during the turmoil. Her father passed away when she was 11. In 1955 she boarded the SS New York, with her mother, and set sail for a new life in America. She entered the United States through Ellis Island and lived in Hartford, Connecticut where she was a residential nanny for Collins family. While in Hartford she took business courses. She moved to State College, PA where worked at Penn State sharing an apartment with her mother and Dagmar. While at Penn State she met Fred N. Gauger through some friends; they became engaged and she followed him to Tulsa, OK where they were married by the Justice of the Peace, and honeymooned in Eureka Springs, AR. In 1966 they had their first child, Paulette Gauger. In 1967 they moved to the family home where her husband still resides on Madison Avenue. In 1970 the couple completed their family with the addition of a son, Curtis Ray Gauger and Susanne settled in as a homemaker and loving mother, involving herself in school activities and her church. Beginning in the mid 1990's, a daughter-in-law Lisa (Farrow) Gauger, a son-in-law Marco Vicente-Silvestre, grandchildren and great grandchildren were added as the joy of family was multiplied. Susanne was a woman of great faith taking delight in her baptism and the confirmation it provided. She was a comforter, full of compassion who made sure her family was cared for, supported and loved. Her love extended to animals as well intermingling them with her burgeoning clan. Sprinkling guidance with a keen sense of humor she was able to guide everyone to a safe, secure place. Her most cherished activities was spending time with her husband of 51 years and family events. Her presence will be dearly missed.
