Obituary of Louise Hightower

Margaret Louise Hightower was born in Bentonville, AR on September 11, 1933 to William and Myrtle Featherston. She passed on to her heavenly home on January 25, 2016 at the age of 82. Louise moved to Tulsa, OK in 1953 and enjoyed living in the “big city” from her farm girl upbringing in Bentonville. Louise was introduced to Bob Hightower on a blind date and after a three month courtship between OKC and Tulsa where married on December 27, 1958. Louise and Bob recently celebrated their 57 year anniversary. They were married at First United Methodist Church and continued to be faithful members of FUMC. Louise and Bob started their life together in Oklahoma City but moved to Tulsa in 1967 with their two daughters, Laurie and Leslie. Louise was an active member of her church, PTA/classroom activities at Carnegie Elementary and co-leader of both girl’s Camp Fire groups. Louise re-entered the workforce when her girls where in high school and started a 25 year career at Oral Roberts University working in the school library. She valued her Christian work environment among many cherished co-workers and students. Louise was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Roy Featherston. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Hightower; sister, Alice Goodwin and her husband, Tommy of Pittsburg, TX; brother, Joe Featherston and his wife, Carol of Bentonville, AR; sister-in-law, Carolyn Featherston Sullivan of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Laurie Zampino and her husband, Tom; daughter, Leslie Meador and her husband, Ray; grandchildren, Licia Sorrentino, Anthony Zampino, Lindsey Meador; and great-granddaughter, Sophia Sorrentino all of Tulsa. The family will receive friends 3-7:00 PM Thursday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Louise’s memory to First United Methodist Church, Beacon Fellowship Missionary Fund, 1115 S. Boulder Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119.
