Obituary of Glenn Earl Wood

Glenn Earl Wood was born October 16, 1930 in Ada, OK to Sammie Dee & Beulah Mae (Berger) Wood and passed from this life peacefully surrounded by loving family on May 15, 2017 at the age of 86.

Glenn graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in petroleum engineering and served in the United States Air Force for 4 years at Lackland Air Force Base.  Upon his honorable discharge Glenn worked at Home Stake Oil Company from 1964 to 1975 and then for Reading & Bates Corporation until his retirement.  Glenn faithfully served as a deacon at Eastwood Baptist Church for over 40 years.  He devoted his life to the Great Commission and serving God’s people at the church.  He will be remembered for having a servant’s heart and faithfully serving his God.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 43 years, Lou Ella Wood; and his sister, Gloria Jean Brown.   He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann (Prather) Wood; his daughters, Cindy Bartz and husband Bob and Darla Stevens; his sister and brother-in-law, Estelle Lee & Ronald Dale Evans; his brother, Sammie Dee Wood, Jr.; his grandchildren, Bridgette Edwards and husband Ben, Brittany Dancer and husband David and Hunter Stevens; and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklyn & Brynlee Edwards and Dirk Dancer.

Glenn will lie in state 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home.  His Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Eastwood Baptist Church with a graveside committal 2:00 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
