Obituary of Jere Ernest Cottle

Jere Ernest Cottle was born on November 18, 1932 in Columbia, MO to Ernest Charlie Cottle and Ruby May (Hall) Cottle.  Jere passed from this life on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the age of 84.
He worked for the Silvey Insurance Company for 30 years where he was the safety manager.  Jere served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  He was a longtime and very active member of Southern Hills Baptist Church and loved Celebrate Recovery where he touched many lives.  Even though he traveled a lot with his job, he still found time to teach Sunday school, work with the Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball. Special Olympics was also a part of that time.  Jere enjoyed many hobbies that took detail.  Wood carving, photography and creating on the computer among a few.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Elmer Cottle.  Jere is survived by his wife, Doris of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard “Rick” and Donna Cottle; a daughter, Vicky Lynn Cottle all of Tulsa, OK; a sister, Dorothy Baumgartner and a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Billie Cottle all of Columbia, MO; 2 grandchildren, Heather Hodge and her husband, Mike and his great-grandchild Mariah Hodge.
Memorial service 4:00 P.M. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Southern Hills Baptist Church.
