Obituary of Dana S. Gilpin

Please share a memory of Dana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On the evening of Sunday, June 24, 2018, Dana Gilpin died suddenly and unexpectedly. She was 64 years young. The family suspects she suffered a heart attack. Dana is preceded in death by her father, Steven K. Gilpin, and her mother, Betty Gilpin. She is survived by her brother Christopher Gilpin and his two children, Kristin and Chad; her brother Tim Gilpin and his two children, Steven and Emma; her favorite “little man”, her great nephew, Calvin, her many cherished friends; and beloved dogs. Dana was born and raised in Tulsa where she attended the University of Tulsa, receiving her degree in fine arts. Over her career, she held many exhibitions in Tulsa and around the country and opened a studio in her home, where she taught art to children of all ages, especially those young at heart. Like her father, Dana was an artist and creative down to the bone. She devoted her life to her passion. She inspired her Tulsa community with her fierce and colorful creativity that was one-of-a-kind. Dana saw the pink sparkle in everything and everyone and will be remembered for her loyalty and devotion to family and friends, her sense of humor, and her lifelong animal advocacy.

A celebration of Dana’s beautiful life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at All Souls Unitarian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals. www.animalallianceok.org
