Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anna Ferizi Koutsaris (Cory) passed away at home at the age of 97 on April 17, 2020, on blessed Good Friday evening in the presence of her loving family. Anna was born on June 7, 1922 in Zoupena, a village outside of Sparta, Greece. She immigrated to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1964 after marrying her husband, the late Christ Koutsaris (Cory) who died in 1977. After that time, she dedicated her life to raising their two children, Georgia and Nick. She faced numerous challenges including speaking limited English and having no immediate family support present in the United States. She was a devoted, proud mother and later Yiayia. She shared her love of the Greek culture and traditions, including her wonderful Greek cooking with all the people she loved. Anna was devout in her Greek Orthodox faith. Since 1964, she was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Tulsa and member of Megali Ellas. Anna can best be remembered for her strength, unconditional love and support to her children and grandchildren. She will always be the best “Mama” and “Yiayia” in the hearts of her loving family. Her children, Georgia and Nick, are very blessed and proud to be able to call her their mother. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Christ Cory, parents Angeliki and Nicholaos Ferizi; brothers, Panagiotis Ferizi and Contantinos Ferizi; sister, Vasilki Xaiikali and dear nephew George Xaiikali. Anna is survived by her daughter and son in law, Georgia and George Chahalis of Tulsa, son and daughter in law, Nick and Jeanine Cory of Broken Arrow, grandchildren: Christina Chahalis, Anna Cory, Demetri Chahalis and Luke Cory and sister, Sophia Giakoumidou of Athens, Greece. Special blessings and gratitude to her caregiver Debbie Barnes, who for the past two and a half years provided the utmost love and care to Anna when her family was at work. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church building fund, 1222 S. Guthrie, Tulsa, OK 74119.
