Ellis Zumwalt Obituary

Zumwalt, Ellis E., 85, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006 in Tulsa, OK. Born October 25, 1920, in Tulsa, OK. He served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Radioman Second Class from 1943-1946. He was honorably discharged on April 5th, 1946. Ellis was an avid supporter of TU athletics. He was a member of the Golden Hurricane Club & followed many men's & women's teams. He was also a charter member of the President's Council at TU. He has been a member of St. Marks UMC for over 20 years.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Boon (America) Zumwalt, his first wife Nathalie Zumwalt, his brother Arlie Zumwalt and his sisters Lela Weaver and Robbie McKenzie.


He is survived by his wife, Faith J. Zumwalt; 5 remaining sisters; his children Suzanne & Thomas Simpson of Edmond, Cynthia & David Foster of Tulsa, Denise & Philard Rounds, Jr. of Tulsa, Greg Zumwalt & Robn Werner of Tulsa & Tammy and Garth Pickard of Houston; his stepchildren, Pam & Rick Zitzman of Tulsa & Joan & Larry Stevens of Owasso. His grandchildren, Geoff & Shawna Simpson, Todd & Christi Simpson, Amy & Paul Lucas, Parker Foster, Allison & Taylor Martyn, Phil Rounds III, Mysti & Mike Pagonis, Erika Eby, Adam Pickard, Joshua Pickard, Andrew Pickard, Brandon Stevens, Matt Stevens, Michelle Stevens, Joey Zitzman & Kris Werner. Great-Grandchildren, Keelin Simpson, Colin & Mallory Simpson, Lucas, Madlyn & Ella Pagonis; and special friends Joe & Jan Mills.


Services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Viewing is available at Ninde Funeral Home on Sunday, April 30th, from 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to St. Marks United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels or The University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane Club.
