Obituary of Alex Chalmers

Please share a memory of Alex to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Alex Chalmers was born June 20, 2004 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Sandy and Amanda Chalmers. He passed away Thursday January 23rd, 2025 at the age of 20, leaving a legacy of kindness, quiet strength and an unassuming brilliance that touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Alex had a brilliant mind and an extraordinary gift for knowledge, especially when it came to sports stats, politics and history. Whether it was pouring over the latest sports magazines or cheering on OU football with his dad, his passion for athletics was unmatched. A graduate of Cascia Hall with highest honors, graduating Magna Cum Laude and an Oklahoma Scholar, Alex’s intelligence was only rivaled by his quick, dry wit, which never failed to surprise and bring a smile to those around him. Outside of studies, Alex played and enjoyed a variety of sports during his high school career. After high school, he gained interest in and excelled at Jujitsu.

A deeply caring soul, Alex shared a unique bond with his dogs - Baker, Milly and Kobe.  He had Kobe on an impressive four-walk-a-day program (even if Kobe never seemed to tire). He was the only person who could get Baker to walk on a leash. His deeply intuitive connection to animals reflected his kind and gentle nature.

Alex was protective of his twin sisters, Jordan and Darby, and loved them so much. Just 22 months older than his sisters, he had a close bond with them growing up, and two constant companions. Family vacations together to Disney World, road trip to Mount Rushmore and Jackson Hole, trips to the beach, ski trips, and Turks and Caicos were some of our fondest memories as a family.

Alex was a steadfast and loyal friend; someone you could always count on during your toughest times. He stood by his friends with quiet strength, offering support without hesitation. Yet, Alex rarely looked to his friends for help, not because he didn’t need it, but because he didn’t want to burden those he cared about. He wanted to be the rock for others. In his quiet way, he made everyone around him feel important and loved, even if he struggled to see how deeply he was cherished in return.

Alex had a special bond with all of his grandparents- often stopping by without notice just to be with them, talk about life, and eat all of the snacks in their pantries.

Alex loved caddying, fishing, golfing, watching MMA and sharing moments with his dad, his best friend and partner. He also had a very special loving bond with his mom, Amanda talking about dogs, going to yoga, and keeping up with the latest health trends.

Although Alex faced challenges that we can never fully understand, he fought his battles with courage and grace. His life reminds us of the importance of compassion, understanding and reaching out to those around us.

Alex is survived by his parents, Sandy and Amanda Chalmers; twin sisters, Darby and Jordan; grandparents, Kirk and LaDon Chalmers, Mary Ellen and Pat Darby; aunts and uncles, Emily and Jason Burns, Melissa and Jason Harlow, Julie Jett, Debbie Darby, David and Shana Darby; cousins, Annie, Libby, and Chloe Burns, Katie, Mary Margaret, and Lauren Harlow, Landis Jett, Jonah and Eli Toay, Avery and Owen Darby and Caroline Briggs along with many extended family members and friends that loved him so much.

A rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6th and a celebration of Alex’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7th, both at Christ The King Church. A reception will immediately follow the mass at Southern Hills Country Club.
