Obituary of Phillip William Boyd
Phil quietly passed away in the early morning after his beloved Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game at the age of 73.
Phil was born in Norman Oklahoma to Newt and Betty Boyd. The family relocated close to Emporia Kansas where he graduated High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy as part of the SeaBees unit. His deployment took him to various parts of the world doing construction. On February 15, 1977, Phil was Honorably Discharged and returned to Emporia. Like many there being employed at Iowa Beef Processing. After a lengthy tenure at IBP, he relocated to Independence Kansas to be close to family. At that time his adventures began as an over the road truck driver, retiring in 2007.
Phil was a sports enthusiast, all things Kansas. He also had a passion for reading and cross word puzzles. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying the company of family and friends over a meal.
Phillip is predeceased by his sister Katie, father Newt and mother Betty. He is survived by his brother Lincoln, aunts, uncles and cousins.
You will be missed, see you on the other side.
