Janis C. Keene, born in St. Joseph, MO on September 26, 1938, passed from this life on October 19, 2025, in the hospice of Covenant Living at Inverness, in Tulsa, OK.

A Tulsa resident for most of her life, Jan was the daughter of Horace Hamilton and Marie Elizabeth (nee Anderson) Keene, and the older sister of Carol Beth Hunt, who predeceased her.  Jan graduated from Will Rogers High School and received a BA degree in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa.  She subsequently earned an MA degree in Library Science from the University of Oklahoma.

Jan served the Tulsa area for more than 40 years as Business Manager for the Tulsa City-County Library system and as the library’s assistant executive for part of that time.  She was named a member of the TCCL Hall of Fame in 1996 and received the library’s Lifetime Achievement Award on her retirement in April of 2003.  Jan was also an active member of the chancel choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa for 55 years, having joined the church in 1966.

Of her immediate family, she is survived by nieces Laura Allison Hunt of Atlanta, GA and Anne Elizabeth Hunt of Tulsa, OK, nephew, Matthew David Hunt of Shorewood, WI and brother-in-law, David Curtis Hunt of Tulsa, OK.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on November 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.   A reception at the church will follow the service.
