Douglas Roger "Doug" Moore Obituary

Douglas Roger Moore, 81, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died peacefully at his home on December 16, 2025.

Doug was born in Tulsa to Geraldine Phillips Moore and Richard Clinton Moore and spent the majority of his life in the city he loved. He is survived by his wife of many years, Judie Billings Moore. Together they built a life rooted in family, friendship, curiosity, and adventure.

Doug is survived by his children: his eldest son Parker; his daughter Kristin and her husband Jim, and their daughters Katherine and Margot; his son Tyler and his wife Melissa, and their sons Calder and Coen; and his youngest son Connor and his wife Kelly, and their children Weston and Joni. He is also survived by his sister Pam and her husband Jack, their children Colby, Robin, and Melody, and all of their children.

Doug attended Edison High School in Tulsa, where he met Judie—though they would not marry until after both graduated from the University of Arkansas. As a young man, Doug had many interests, chief among them music. A lifelong guitarist, he played in rock-and-roll bands for decades, performing his final live gig just this past October. He loved all forms of music, especially jazz, and counted guitarist John Scofield among his favorites. Later in life, Doug became a student at the Stanford Music School, where he studied jazz guitar.

Doug earned his bachelor’s degree in business/pre-med from the University of Arkansas and went on to receive his medical degree there as well. He dedicated more than 30 years to serving the Tulsa community as an emergency room physician at Saint Francis Hospital and was a founding partner of the MedCenter emergency clinics. In retirement, he continued to give back by volunteering as a physician at Xavier Medical Center in Tulsa.

An avid sports fan, Doug proudly cheered for the Razorbacks, OU, the Tulsa Drillers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and—yes—the Kansas City Chiefs. He loved golf and sailing, navigating boats on Fort Gibson and Grand Lake, and, as a licensed captain, sailing throughout the Caribbean with friends and family. Doug was also an accomplished scuba diver and ocean photographer, selling his work at art exhibitions, including Tulsa’s Mayfest.

Above all, Doug was a devoted father. He coached countless youth sports teams, worked extensively with the Boy Scouts of America, and led trips across New Mexico, Washington, Florida, and Montana. An explorer at heart, Doug traveled the world and was always planning the next adventure.

Doug touched the lives of many. Whether in an emergency room, on a playing field, around a dinner table, beneath a coral reef, or halfway across the globe, he left people better than he found them. If you knew Doug—even briefly—you knew a man who lived life to its fullest and embraced those around him with generosity, curiosity, and joy.

Cheers to Doug Moore.
