Thomas William Fausser Obituary

Thomas William Fausser of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away February 9th after a short illness. He was born October 23, 1948 in the borough of Manhattan, New York City to William and Ruth Mayers Fausser. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Ann Fausser. His love of life and great sense of humor will be missed by many.

Tom grew up on Long Island, New York.  After high school, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa. He then enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Korea as a radar tech at a TAC site in the DMZ area during the Vietnam War. This experience led to a brief career with industrial pipeline X-ray companies in Tulsa. He and Jean Ann later co-purchased Books & Company, shifting its focus to become Children’s Books & Company. The store became a beloved resource for parents and teachers alike for many years.

Tom was something of a renaissance man. He was an avid reader of many genres and enjoyed such diverse interests as art, jazz, wine, cooking, and dining, and enjoyed traveling both in the US and abroad. His mechanical skills often came in handy in the installation of Jean Ann’s artwork as well as in keeping a household running. One of his favorite activities involved his love of railroads, a love rooted in his father’s career with Long Island Railroad: he constructed intricate model railroad layouts, built and sold both trains and buildings for others, and enjoyed a long association with the model railroad community in Tulsa, maintaining a membership with the Indian Nations NMRA (Model Railroad Association). Tom supported the art community in Tulsa by building an art collection of both local and national scope, while The University of Tulsa and All Souls Unitarian Church both enjoyed his financial support.

A proud and devoted family man, Tom is survived by his son David from a previous marriage; stepson Chris Daubert (Shannon), granddaughter Natalie Dang (Michael) and grandson Austin; stepdaughter Brenda Alred, grandsons Cameron and Logan; and stepson Doug Daubert, grandsons Donovan, Drake, and Miles.

The family requests memorial gifts to All Souls Unitarian Church, Tulsa, in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. March 6, 2026 at All Souls Unitarian Church, 2952 S Peoria Ave., the Reverend Dr. Marlin Lavanhar officiating.
