Hettie Lou (Hanley) Green was born June 19, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to I.D. Hanley and Dora Ruth (Atkins) Hanley, and passed from this life on February 21, 2026, at the age of 97.

On July 29, 1950, she married the love of her life, Clarence E. Green, Jr. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, and service.

Hettie dedicated much of her life to serving the City of Tulsa. She began her career on March 26, 1960, and faithfully served until her retirement. She worked as City Commission Secretary for many years, and when the city changed its form of government, she transitioned to the role of Deputy City Clerk until retiring in 1995. She took great pride in her work and served with integrity and dedication.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. Hettie loved going to church, studying the Bible, and living out her Christian values daily. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. In her younger years, she loved to paint and even took lessons. Her home is filled with beautiful paintings that reflect her creativity and talent.

Family meant everything to Hettie. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She encouraged her grandchildren’s creativity with endless arts and craft supplies, always making space for imagination and fun. Her home was a place of warmth, love, and encouragement.

Hettie was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Dorothy and Helen; her beloved husband, Clarence E. Green, Jr.; her daughter, Patricia Lou (Green) Dobbins; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons Charles Green of Forney, TX and Michael Green of Ridgeland, MS, and her daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Gary Evans of Tulsa, OK; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
