Otha Darrell Hill was born June 6, 1935, in Barnsdall, OK to Louie Emanuel Hill and Gladys Belle (Forrest) Hill and passed from this life in Houston, TX on March 17, 2026, at the age of 90.Otha developed a desire to travel at a young age when family friends who worked for the railway brought him along for day trips on the train. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1959, he joined the US Army. He served as an Ordnance Supply Specialist during the Korean Conflict and spent his military career mainly in Korea. After his service, he began his career at Cities Services Oil Company where he met the love of his life, Bette. Otha and Bette raised three children together, Jerry, Christy and Leigh. Otha began to travel internationally for work soon after completing his MBA from Tulsa University. During his career he traveled to over 40 countries, and every continent except for Antarctica. He loved his travels and developed a deep appreciation for the uniqueness of people while understanding the commonalities that we all share, love of family and a desire to connect to God. After a long and successful career which ended with his employment at Conoco, he devoted his life to his family. Otha was the center of his family, a constant steady presence. He was a source of gentle strength, sage advice and a bit of mischievous humor. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they adored him. Otha also developed close friendships with others, he enjoyed meeting people and lending a compassionate ear to anyone who needed it. He was a part of several groups of friends, meeting weekly for over 17 years for coffee, cards, and social activities. Otha loved life and felt blessed to have lived a life filled with travel, family, and friends. His exposure to so many people and cultures shaped his views about his relationship with his Creator. He believed each person’s path was personal and unique, perfectly fitted for each individual but all leading to the same End. He accepted people as they were and treated others with dignity and respect.
