Marilyn Ann Olsson Obituary
“I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.” Psalm 104:33
Marilyn Ann Olsson went to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Edmond, Oklahoma. Marilyn was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 13, 1937. She grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School as its Student Body President. In 1959, Marilyn received a degree in secretarial science from the University of Tulsa.
Music and sharing the message of Christ were Marilyn’s greatest loves. As a teenager, she began singing in church at Youth for Christ meetings. She especially loved singing in the church choir with her husband, Roger. In 1978, Marilyn released her album, This is The Time I Must Sing. Inspired by prison ministry advocate Charles Colson, she spent many years singing and ministering in Oklahoma women’s prisons through Prison Fellowship. She also traveled with her mother, Bible teacher Jeanne Wilkerson, singing before her mother’s messages. In December of 1991, Marilyn went on a Missions Trip to the former Soviet Union just after the Iron Curtain fell. After moving to Edmond, Marilyn planned and participated in seasonal musical programs for residents at their retirement community. Marilyn lived a life shaped by her faith, her love of music, and her dedication to sharing that faith with others.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, D.B. Wilkerson; her mother, Jeanne B. Wilkerson; her brother, D.B. “Tink” Wilkerson; and her husband, Roger W. Olsson. She is survived by her sister, Dianne Lewallen of Edmond, Oklahoma, who faithfully cared for her for 17 years; her sons, Brent Olsson and wife Jené of Oklahoma City, and Shaun Olsson and wife Chrisse of Castle Rock, Colorado; and her five grandchildren, Aaron, Josiah, and Faithanna Olsson of Oklahoma City, Lexi Olsson Johnson and her husband, Fulton, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Lauren Olsson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the many devoted caregivers whose faithful care and kindness blessed Marilyn over the past nine years.
