Melvin Richard Monday Obituary
Melvin Richard Monday was born June 12, 1933, in Wainwright, Oklahoma, to Ada Dickens Monday and Berry Monday. After retirement from McDonnell Douglas, he was a Tulsa Public Schools bus driver for eleven years.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Hickerson, on November 4, 1953. To this union, six children were born. Melvin was a devoted husband and father. He was more than a father; he was a daddy who loved, provided for and supported his family. He was truly a God-fearing man who was faithful to his calling. He participated in a daily 5am prayer line conference call with Faith Mission IGC of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His life was a testament of his love for God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Berry Monday and Ada Dickens Monday; his two brothers, James Monday and Chester Monday; his beloved wife, Barbara Monday, of almost 60 years upon her passing in July 2013; and oldest son, Darie Monday.
He is survived by his other five children: Melvin Monday Jr, Kenneth Monday (Donna), Sharon Moore, Deborah Myles (James) and Steve Monday (Tiffany); 17 grandchildren to include bonus granddaughter, Sanora Brunson; 18 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
