Sara Katherine "Sally" Jones Obituary
Sara Katherine "Sally" (Kramer) Jones, 95, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2026.
Sally was born February 15, 1931 in Oklahoma City to Allen C. and Katherine (Frye) Kramer and grew up in the Bren Rose neighborhood of Tulsa with her parents and older brother, John Charles. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she joined the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. While a student, she met and later married Jack D. Jones. Together, Sally and Jack raised three daughters, Peggy, Betsy and Susan.
Jack’s work with the Getty Oil Company took the family to Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA and Bronxville, NY before they returned to Tulsa in 1977, where Sally happily lived the remainder of her life.
Sally was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She was an active and much‑loved member of every community she joined. She devoted her time to raising a family, charity work and participation in organizations such as the Junior League and Children’s Day Nursery, the Episcopal Church, garden club, investment club and book club. She was an avid bridge player. Sally was a long-time member of Southern Hills Country Club, an accomplished artist and an annual participant in the Southern Hills Members Art Show. She touched many lives with her creativity and generosity. Her door was always open to friends and family. Sally loved to laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. Though she traveled widely and lived in many cities, Sally always thought of Tulsa as home. Her deep roots in Oklahoma, going back generations, brought her many fond memories.
Family was very important to her, she was especially proud of her three daughters, five grandchildren and three great‑grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dr. John Charles Kramer; her husband, Jack; and a son-in-law, Bryant Shoemaker. She is survived by daughters, Peggy Shoemaker of Santa Barbara, CA; Betsy Jones of Pasadena, CA; and Susan Jones Butcher and her husband, Tom of Tulsa, OK; her grandchildren, Taylor Poe of Tulsa, OK, Sarah, Annie and Liz Shoemaker of Santa Barbara, CA and Sean Shoemaker of San Francisco, CA; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Tulsa Oklahoma at a date and time to be determined. Friends may contribute in Sally’s memory to St. Jude’s, Up with Trees or the Salvation Army.
