Wanda “Gail” Firestone went home to be with the LORD on May 23, 2026. Gail was born on July 3, 1936, to Barbara Ellen and Rex Bircket. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1954. She then went on to the University of Oklahoma where she became a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and received a BA in business. While at OU, Gail met the love of her life, James “Ron” Firestone. After getting married on June 14, 1958, Ron and Gail moved to Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico, where Ron served as a pilot in the United States Air Force. While in Alamogordo, Ron and Gail had their daughter, Kelly Lynn. Following the birth of Kelly, Ron and Gail were transferred to Silver Springs, Maryland, where they had their son, James “Ronnie” Firestone, Jr. Once Ron’s Air Force commitment was complete, Ron and Gail settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In Tulsa, Gail served as a school volunteer and was very active in the Junior League (where she served as Parliamentarian) and The Tulsa Boys Home (where she served as President). The Tulsa Boys Home always had a special place in Gail’s heart! While in Tulsa, Gail also worked for several years at Brooks Brothers and the Polo Store in Utica Square.

Gail’s family and her Christian faith were always her top priority. She also enjoyed spending time with the many life-long friends that she made in high school and college and through the Air Force. Gail enjoyed playing tennis and was an awesome bridge player. She was a huge fan of the OU Sooners and the OKC Thunder!

Gail is proceeded in death by her parents, Barbara Ellen and Rex Bircket, her husband James “Ron” Firestone, and her son James “Ronnie” Firestone, Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter Kelly Dougherty (Cliff), her grandchildren Kristin Bohanan (Tyson), Carly Cottle (Hunter), and Hunter Firestone (Rebecca), and her precious great-grandchildren, Rae Ellen Bohanan, Harrison James Bohanan, Finley Anne Cottle, Hudson Moore Cottle, Connor James Firestone, and Isabella Rose Firestone.

A viewing will be held at Ninde Funeral Home 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026 with a private family graveside service to be held on Monday, June 1. A special celebration for Gail will be held at the Tulsa home of Kristin and Tyson Bohanan at 4:00 PM on June 1.  The family welcomes all who would like to attend and celebrate Gail.  Please contact a family member for the address.
