Obituary of Sarah Bixler

Bixler, Sarah M., 79, of Mannford, peacefully passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009. Sarah was born on October 20, 1929 in Tulsa to Harley and Cleopatra (Matlock) Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Harvey Bixler, in 2008. They met in 1948 while attending Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, OK; they were married on September 3, 1948. She led a life of service to others, including countless hours of service in the name of Jesus Christ. At Baptist churches in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma, she served as a leader for Girls in Action, an elementary Sunday School teacher, a Baptist Youth Fellowship leader, a mission volunteer, and a church librarian. She spent many hours doing nursing home visitation, building churches, coordinating Girl Scout troops, and taking care of children. She had a passion for cooking and baking, sharing food with family and friends and those in need. She was a loving wife and mother and a devoted homemaker. She is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carol Bixler, of Leesburg, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Susan Kay and Royce Chancellor, of Tulsa, OK; brother, Lloyd Bennett, of Winfield, TX; sister-in-law, Ruby Jo Bixler, of Anchorage, AK; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, Broadway Baptist Church (Sand Springs) with interment at Woodland Memorial Park. Ninde Brookside Chapel 918-742-5556.
