Landis "Bo" Morris was born March 1, 1924 to Landis O. and May Catherine Morris in Louisville, Ky. He died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He graduated from Centre College in Danville, Ky. with a bachelor's degree in business administration and he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator on bombers during World War II. After the war he worked 16 years as regional sales manager for Girdle-Tube Turns in Tulsa. He became a partner in Mylon C. Jacobs Supply Co. in 1964 and purchased the company in 1989 and served as president and chief executive officer. He sold the business in 1994 and retired from pipelining. He spent his later years enjoying the outdoors at his 520 Ranch in Osage County where he raised cattle, horses, and bird dogs. An avid outdoorsman and supporter of wildlife conservation, Bo was one of the original founders of Tulsa area chapters of Ducks Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was a longtime member of Quail Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He loved hunting, fishing and golfing, and always enjoyed playing a hand of cards with his friends, especially if the game was gin rummy. A tradition of generosity and stewardship marked his way of life. He lived life to its fullest and he shared his knowledge and experiences as a friend and a mentor to many in the outdoors and in life. Bo was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne E. Morris, their daughter Melissa Morris, his brother Mason Morris, and his sister Barb Rothermel. He is survived by: Wife Ruth S. Morris; sons Landis O. Morris III and Jack T. Morris; and stepchildren Paul Williams, Melissa Basse, Gregg Williams, Priscilla Givens, and Jennifer Neal, and 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Ave. with Rev. Irving Cutter presiding. A reception for friends and family will follow. Bo's wishes were to be cremated and his ashes spread at the 520 Ranch.
