Obituary of Victor Lycurgus Robards, Jr. M.D.

Victor Lycurgus Robards, Jr. M.D. was born January 19, 1936 in Okmulgee, OK, to Victor Lycurgus & Eulalia (VanVelzer) Robards, Sr. and unexpectedly passed from this life on January 16, 2016 at the age of 79. Vic was a man passionate about his family, faith, and community. He was a gifted Kidney Transplant Surgeon who carried on a successful Urology practice. He also served his country as a Major in the United States Army. Vic and his wife, Anita, loved to travel around the world and spent several of these trips spreading God’s love. He also enjoyed fly fishing in his second home of Westcliffe, CO. Vic received many honors and awards during his career. Some of these include: Chief of Staff of St. John Medical Center, First President of Urologic Specialists of Oklahoma, President of Baptist Dental Fellowship, National Kidney Foundation Urologist of the Year, and Northeastern State University Outstanding Alumni. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Catherine Gibson. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anita Louise (Cearley) Robards; his son, Rodney M. Robards, DVM and his wife, Julie; his daughter, Laura Ann Cloud and her husband, Dwight; his sister, Nancy Spunt and her husband, Jerry; and his grandchildren, Caleb Cloud, Tori Robards, Cole Cloud, Hattie Robards, Cade Cloud, Tate Robards and Calvin Cloud. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 403 S. Cincinnati, Tulsa, OK. He will be laid to rest at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, OK.
