Obituary of Barbara J. Cortright

Cortright, Barbara Joyce (Coleman) was born February 22, 1943 in Tulsa to the late William Estol and Mary Frances (Granberry) Coleman. She left us unexpectedly Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the age of 73. Barbara grew up in Tulsa and was a 1961 graduate of Tulsa Edison High School. She attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater before returning to live in Tulsa. Barbara took great joy in being a mother to two daughters and two sons and in being a grandmother to 11 grandchildren. She was a member of the Yale Avenue Christian Church, the Oaks Golf Club and the Tulsa Mrs. Club. She spent many of her days and evenings tending to her garden and entertaining friends in her wonderful back yard. Barbara is survived by her husband, Major General Stephen Phelps Cortright; her brother and his wife, Ron and Terry Coleman of Raleigh, NC; her four children and their spouses, David and Tiffany Cortright of Austin, TX, Tiffany and Dorsey Horton of Allen, TX, Heather and Mark Luckinbill of Raleigh, NC; Cole (Adam) and Stacie Cortright of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as their “Neena,” Bailey, Josephine, Stockton, Hope and Louis Cortright; Travis, Olivia and Madison Luckinbill; Jackson, Caroline and Charlotte Cortright. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Yale Avenue Christian Church. Honorary Pallbearers are Carlene Clancy Smith, Cheryl Clerico, Fritzie Roop, Ginni Jacobs, Jan Sylvester, Jewel Connor and Shari Dean. Her ashes will be placed at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery 10:00 AM Friday, April 1, 2016. The family is blessed by and thanks all of Barbara’s many lifelong friends for their support and strength during this time. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Folds of Honor Foundation, 5800 N. Patriot Drive, Owasso, OK 74055 "Love All Around."
