Marjorie Mildred Martin was born in Deerfield, Missouri to Joseph Ray Clyburn and Edna Pauline (Weber) Clyburn. Marge passed from this life on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 90. She graduated high school in 1943 from Nevada High School in Nevada, Missouri. After graduation Marge moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to attend Draughon Business School. She made friends with 2 sisters: Anne and Willie Martin. The three of them lived in the boarding house owned by Marge’s future in-laws. Marge dated their brother Charles for a while until their other brother, Carl, came back from being stationed in the Philippines during World War II. She and Carl began dating and married August 30, 1946. Marge held many jobs during her time in Tulsa. She was an elevator operator at Brown Dunkin Department Store. After starting a family, she used her business school training as a night auditor/switchboard operator at the Alvin Plaza Hotel. She also worked at Bill Doenges Ford, where she was working when she and Carl decided to try the restaurant business again. They opened the Ranch House Restaurant at 3rd & Trenton. They later had two other restaurants: one in Cushing, Oklahoma and the other was Carl’s Kountry Chicken at 3rd and Wheeling in Tulsa. Marge was actively involved with the day to day operations of all three restaurants. They also had an adventure in the liquor store business for a short time. After Carl’s stroke in 1994, Marge stayed home to care for him until his death in 2001. Marjorie was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan from the time she listened to the games on radio with her family growing up until her death. She also was a Kansas City Royals fan, unless they were playing the Cardinals of course. In football, she liked the OU Sooners, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys. She even liked NASCAR. Her favorite driver was Jeff Gordon who she got to meet in 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carl; her parents, Edna and Ray Clyburn; two brothers, Earl and Joe Clyburn and one grandson, Kelly Martin. Marjorie is survived by her three children: son Roger Martin and wife Claudia of Ben Lomond, California, daughter Marjie Ann Deramo and husband John of Talala, Oklahoma and son Chuck Martin and wife Cindy of Sperry, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her brother Bill Clyburn and his wife Billie of Wichita, Kansas; her sister Mary Bailey of Fort Scott, Kansas and sister-in-law Faye Martin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
