Obituary of Alleen Carter

Mattie Alleen (Rodman) Carter was born July 20, 1917 in Millville, Arkansas to John Calvin and Pearl Etta (Cordell) Rodman and passed from this life February 19, 2009 at the age of 91. Her family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma when she was young and she attended Lowell Elementary and Junior High School and Central High School. Upon completion of her schooling she met and married Cecil David Carter on September 12, 1936. During World War II Alleen worked at Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter" contributing to the war effort of her country. She worked throughout her adulthood in various positions, eventually retiring from New Life Center Day Care where she was a childcare provider. Alleen was a long time member of Woodlake Assembly of God, enjoyed quilting, sewing, traveling and eating outespecially chicken fried steak. Her husband Cecil preceded her in death January 20, 1975 after almost forty years of marriage. Alleen is also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; Vernon, Harold and Otis; and her sister, Helen Pauline Earl. She is survived by her daughter, Naomi Carter; her son, Ronald Carter; and her nieces, Shirley Howell and Beverly Lewis and her husband George. In addition to her family Alleen is survived by friends who grew close as family; Betty and Harold Redford and their daughter Lisa Stovall and her husband Bob and their children, Brad and Lauren; Sam and Sandy VanMeter and their children, Dusty, Ashley, Misty and her husband Trevor Thienhardt, Landon and Emery (who always helped and loved "Een"), Jess Stalling and Carrie Stalling-Smith, Alan, Nancy, Amber and Ashley Vanderbert and Alice and Jack Martin. Alleen will be greatly missed by all. She will lie in state from 10:00 a.m to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home with a funeral service 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
