Harry W. Robertson, Jr., 84 died peacefully on May 26, 2009 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born in Somerset, PA on February 26, 1925 to Harry W. Robertson, Sr. and Lavina C. Robertson. Harry was the eldest of ten children and was always a loving son and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harry W., Sr. and Lavina. of Jenners, PA; his two brothers, James and Harold, sister, Lelia and his newborn daughter, Susan. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edna M. (Novison) Robertson, of Tulsa, OK; sons, Ronald C., of Wilmington, DE and his wife Carol, Jeffrey C., of Madison, CT and his wife MaryAnn and daughter, Jennifer (Robertson) Light and her husband, Randy of Tulsa, OK; brothers, Robert Robertson, of Jenners, PA and Edward Robertson, of Durham, NC; sisters, Margaret Coulter and Delores Schaffer, both of Jenners, PA, Carol Poltrack, of Johnstown, PA and Lynn Bock, of Huntingdon, PA and 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Harry served in the United States Navy with honor during WWII aboard the USS Jenkins and USS Philips. In 1946 he married Edna Novison and together they started an extraordinary life. Harry graduated from Michigan State University and The Detroit College of Law. He had a successful business career that started in Detroit, MI with General Motors and ended in an early retirement as President of Qualitron Corporation in Danbury, CT. During his years with GM, Harry and Edna had three children and spent some of those years working in Europe. He then made a move to join Perkin-Elmer Corporation in CT and spent 15 years in Newtown, CT. Upon retirement, he and Edna moved to Southern Pines, NC and then made their final move to Inverness Village in Tulsa, OK four years ago.
Harry loved to play golf and was an avid reader. He was an active member of The Congregational Church of Southern Pines and currently a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church. He was a wonderful father and will be missed greatly by all those who had the pleasure to know him. His impact in our lives was immeasurable and his memories will continue to do so.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM in the Rose Chapel of Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Friday, May 29, 2009 with Dr. William Tankersley officiating.
