Obituary of Allen Harris

Allen Richard Harris was born August 29, 1918 in Vian, Oklahoma to John Henry and Ora (Allen) Harris and passed from this life June 2, 2009 at the age of 90. Upon graduating High School Allen entered the United States Army where he helped write history. Among his many exploits he was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy bringing the Allied Forces to victory. Allen was keenly patriotic throughout his lifetime as freedom was won at a great and personal cost. Once stateside following his service to our country Allen stood in line at the Texaco Refinery where he was given employment and served out his career as a Boiler Room Operator. His work ethic matched his military service and the family and community benefited greatly. Allen is survived by his wife, Louise (Collins) Harris of the home and his son, John Harris of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Allen will lie in state Thursday with a family visitation from 5-7 PM with a funeral 10:00 AM Friday at Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church, 714 N. Harvard. He will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery.
