Dorothy L. (Thompson) Ewing McCrory was born April 15, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Wilbur Edward & Viola Cathryn (Blecker) Thompson and passed from this life May 8, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 93. Dorothy has been a member of the Tulsa Philharmonic for 30 years. She played for the Tulsa Ballet, Opera, and The Summer Concert Band Program sponsored by The Recording Fund She was a music teacher for 23 years at Cherokee Elementary in Turley, OK. She also gave private lessons for the flute and the piccolo at Saied's Music Company at 31st and Yale. Dorothy loved to travel and has been to a lot of places. She had a sweet dog named Cookie whom she loved very much. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Mac McCrory and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leslie Newbury & Peggy (Bell) Ewing, III of Tulsa, OK; Step son, Dr. Mac McCrory, Jr. and wife Dana, and son, Ethan Cooksey; of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren: Russell David Ewing of Kansas; Arvilla Jo Mathews of Tulsa, OK; Courtney Chipman, husband, Steve, of Pleasanton, CA; Shawna Allen, husband, Dr. Marc, of Charlotte, NC; and Mac "Trip" McCrory, III, of Tulsa, OK; and four great grandchildren: Stephen and Jay Chipman, Menke and Izabella Allen.
