Hudson, Edward Everett Jr. Age 86 Passed August 1, 2009 in Tulsa at the age of 86. Born to Edward E. Sr. and Sarah Fondren Howse Hudson on 15 Dec 1922 in Sikeston, Missouri.
He graduated from Norman High School in 1940 and entered the University of Okla. After two years he left school for the army. The next 36 months consisted of 15 months of amphibious training at Marthas Vineyard MA, and Carrabelle FL. During the next 21 months he was deployed to the south pacific moving from Milne Bay, to Buna, to Aitape in New Guinea. From there, it was an amphibious assault on Morotai Island in the East Indies. Next, two more assaults at Lingayen and San Fernando on Luzon. While staging for Operation Olympic, the initial assault on Japan's homeland, the war ended. After 3 months of separation, duty at Nagoya Japan, he returned to Norman and Oklahoma University where he earned a Civil Engineering degree in 1948. Except for military duty during Korea, the next 35 years were spent with the Army Engineers in Tulsa as Chief of Hydraulic Design. During this time, he either performed or directed the hydraulics for most of the flood and navigation structures such as Broken Bow, Keystone, Oologah, etc. in the Ark Red River water sheds. For this, he received many achievement awards. The proudest being, listed on the roster of those most significantly contributing to the engineering and construction of the McClellan Kerr Navigation Channel. He was a member of Boston Ave Methodist Church, Delta Masonic Lodge, life member McAlester Scottish Rite. Past Tulsa chairman and life member American Society Civil Engineers, past board member Tulsa Federal Employees credit Union.
Preceded in death by parents and sister Virginia Fondren Larimer her husband Harry, sister Mary Josephine Winslow and her husband David. Survived by son Edward Bowman Hudson his wife Mary Ivylyn Looper, Granddaughter Sarah Hudson, Sister Melba Howse Livermore her husband Edward, nephews David Edward Winslow his wife Kathie, Phillip Hudson Winslow his wife Sherry, Edward Knowles Livermore Jr. his wife Marsha, Nieces Sarah Virginia Spencer, Mary Catherine Bush her husband Don. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Boston Ave Methodist Church Rose Chapel with burial at 3:00 pm in the IOOF cemetery Norman.
