Obituary of Neta Wilson

Please share a memory of Neta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Neta Taylor Wilson She always said she would live to be 100 years old. She never thought it would be to 103 years old. Neta raised two daughters Florene and Lynn virtually by herself. She worked for 50 years at Froug's Department Store where she retired twice. Never wanting to sit still, she was always busy. She was a Sunday School Teacher for Nogales Baptist Church and spent a lot of time volunteering for them. She loved to work in the yard planting flowers and tending to the garden; she could be there for hours. Somehow the heat of summer never affected her. Her grandson, Marty who also loves to garden would compare notes on what was in bloom. She volunteered relentlessly and was always there to help anyone who asked. She was frugal and therefore did not allow for many amenities. She would launder her wash in an old fashion ringer washer and line-dry them when a perfectly good dyer was in the garage. Of course everything was ironed and starched. I guess the best way to describe Neta is a bit ornery. She fought Lynda and Steffanie like crazy when we brought her over a microwave. Two years later it broke and she went out and bought a new one the same day. One time when Steffanie, Bob, Florene and Lynda installed a garage door opener all she could do is complain about how she did not need it. Of course after she used is you could not pry it away from her. She made the best pear preserves in the world and her unsurpassed expertise as a seamstress is evidenced in all of her family's homes. Everywhere you look in any of our home you will find something Grandma made. We cherish everything. She was and is loved very much by all of her family and friends as she gave us all so much. You just could not keep her down. As a matter of fact she drove her car up until the day of her stoke at 92 years old. Of course she was in her garden when she had the stroke. After her stroke she asked the Lord to take her home to heaven each day. In the end she was upset and disappointed she would wake each day. Although she knew God knew what was best. She is survived by her two daughters, Florene Scheffert and Lynn Mandel; three grand children, Cathy Beaumont, Lynda Ryder, and Marty Mandel; two great grandchildren, Lou Scheffert and Steffanie Ness and 4 great, great grandchildren. 5 generations and she met and loved them all tremendously. We will miss her very much and hope she is finally as happy as she made us.
