Obituary of Maxine Simmons

Maxine Dora (Quigley) Simmons was born July 15, 1919 in Topeka, Kansas to William Robert and Beatrice Susan (Moore) Quigley and passed from this life September 29, 2009 at the age of 90. Maxine had a real appreciation for the wonders of nature around her.&nbsp; She was highly skilled as a seamstress and homemaker.&nbsp; She will be remembered most for her sweet, gentle manner and genuine concern for&nbsp;others.&nbsp; Maxine was preceded in death by her husbands, Marion George Carmickle and Elmer Eugene Simmons; her daughter, Mary Telfer; her sisters, Ida Belle Newman and Alice Marler; her brothers, Ray Hall, Robert Quigley, David Quigley, Frank Quigley and Homer Root. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Sipes; her son, Marion Albert Carmickle; her sisters, Frances Hayden, Rosemary Hodd and Gladys Root; her brothers, William Quigley, Joseph Quigley, Daniel Quigley and Isaac Quigley; her grandchildren, Rick, Debbie, Ron, Brenda, Randy, Scott and Annette; and fourteen great grandchildren. <p></p> A memorial service celebrating Maxine's life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home Chapel.
