Obituary of Marjorie Chalmers

Chalmers, Marjorie Ann, 84, passed away Friday, May 26, 2006. A Tulsa native born September 16, 1921 and a graduate of Central High School in 1938, she attended Oklahoma A & M and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Her parents were Dr. E. L. Cohenour (Oklahoma Medical License number 11) and Jesse Howard Cohenour R.N. Marjorie had two brothers, Dr. Howard Cohenour and Winfield Cohenour, both deceased. Marge married J. S. "Bud" Chalmers in June 1941. At the end of WWII, Marjorie and her husband started their own business in 1954, Southside Auto Supply, where Marge worked until the sale of the business in 1993. Marge's husband, Bud, passed away in 1994. Marge's main mission in life was her family and their well being. Her activities included all those in which her children were involved including sports and music and the family dogs. She and Bud have three sons, Greg and Karen Chalmers, of Rio Rancho, NM, Don and Diane Chalmers, of Santa Fe, NM and Kirk and LaDon Chalmers, of Tulsa; eight grandchildren, Brian Chalmers, Emily Burns, Becky Chalmers, Courtney Howard, Sandy Chalmers, Cameron Chalmers, Melissa Harlow and James Chalmers. Marge also has nine great grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed her sorority alumnae activities. Her greatest fun was gathering at home with her boys, their girls and friends, sometimes playing cards, Mah Jong, or just talking. Marge truly enjoyed life and the fellowship with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 1, 2006, Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church where Marge was a charter member. Dr. Tom Gray will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Deacon's Fund at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 4102 E. 61st St. Tulsa, OK 74136. Ninde Garden Chapel 918-742-5556.
