Obituary of Carolyn Dubie

Please share a memory of Carolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carolyn Hale Dubie was born January 28, 1950 in Tulsa to Martin M. and Gladys I. (Nichols) Hale. Carolyn was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Breast Cancer in 2000. She underwent a Stem Cell Transplant and went into remission very quickly, becoming a real source of hope to other breast cancer and stem cell transplant patients for the last 9 years. However, the cancer returned and she passed peacefully from this life Monday, October 19, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. She grew up in Sand Springs, OK a proud "Sandite" and a very involved student at Charles Page High School. Carolyn earned her Master's Degree from the University of Oklahoma and remained a faithful supporter; a Boomer Sooner all the way! Carolyn's work was more than employment; it was a higher calling and she completely invested herself in her counseling for the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitative Services. Also, she campaigned for the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2000 and served on many statewide advocacy committees. Carolyn was more than all the organizations she supported and all the accolades she received. She understood the secret to a successful, meaningful life: others first, self last. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Allen and Gene Hale. She Carolyn is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edwin D. "Ed" Dubie of the home; her daughter and son-in law, Christina and Daniel King; and her beloved grandson, Tyler King, all of Sugar Land, TX; and a sister, Geraldine Wilson; as well as a host of loving family and good friends. Literally hundreds of us across the United States have wonderful memories to sustain us. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Friday at First United Methodist Church, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Carolyn's memory to the First United Methodist Church Children's Department, 1115 S. Boulder Ave., Tulsa, OK 74119 or the American Cancer Society's Sand Springs Relay for Life. Additionally, the family would encourage friends to sign up to be a bone marrow/stem cell donor.
