Christian Fredrick (Fred) Yust, 96, was born November 8, 1909 in Sylvia, kansas the son of Henry Christian and Maria Louise (Ahrens) Yust. He died on Friday, June 9, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended grade school in Sylvia, Kansas. The family moved to Hutchinson, Kansas where he graduated from high school in 1929 and from the Hutchison Junior College in 1931. He dropped out of school to help his brothers through high school. Fred entered Bethel College in the Fall of 1935 and graduated from Bethel in May of 1937 with a degree in Physics and Industrial Arts. At Bethel he met the love of his life, Marjorie Shklar and they were married June 25, 1937 in Kiowa, Kansas. Fred taught school for three years but his heart was set on being a pattern maker. The Yust's moved to Tulsa in August of 1941. Fred worked for Bethlehem Supply until Bethlehem closed in 1961. Fred and another pattern maker opened a shop in Turley, Oklahoma. Fred retired in the Fall of 1979. The Yust's have three children: Karl and wife Laureen of Goodrich, Texas, Sheliah Hendrickson and husband Gary of Arlington, Texas and Gary Yust and his wife Sharan of Edmond, Oklahoma; ten Grandchildren and nine great Grandchildren as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charles, Alfred and Willis. The family will receive friends from 6-8 on Wednesday at the Ninde Whisenhunt Chapel, 2211 E. 6th Street. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15th at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1913 E. 3rd Street. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
