Obituary of Sarah Kester

SARAH BEA KESTER OBITUARY Sarah Bea Kester was born February 28, 1913 in Gilbert, Arkansas to her parents Lindsey and Loucinda Kester. She grew up in the town she was born in until her father's oilfield occupation took them to Osage in her teenage years where she graduated High School. Upon graduation she went to work for Sunoco Oil Company (formerly Mid-continent Oil Company) in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she worked in the payroll department for twenty-five years. In addition she was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church (some 30 plus years). Sarah (or Aunt Bea to many) is preceded in death by her brothers; Ulys Kester, James Kester, Leon Kester, and Ul Kester; her sisters; Mattie Kester, Ollie Kester, Gertrude Kester, Mettie Kester, and stillborn triplets what died before their time. She is survived by her sister Betty Joyce Sherrill of Ponca City, Oklahoma, many nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family. Having never married some would think her a shrinking violet that haunted her own home. This description couldn't be farther from the truth! Though it is true that she never married nor ever obtained a driver's license Sarah was not afraid of lifeon the contrary she embraced it with an enthusiasm that would affect all those around her! She loved to travel and saw Russia, Europe, Italy, and much of the United States with friends. Yet even abroad she never forgot those close to home lavishing the love that might have been spent on her own children had she ever had any on her many nieces and nephews. A testament to her longevity Sarah was known for a keen sense of humor, a sharp wit, and a strong sense of family. She will be greatly missed and her influence will carry the rest of you throughout your lifetime. May God rest her soul and may He keep yours.
