Newsom, JoAnn (Phillips), 84, died on Monday, June 19, 2006 in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a brief illness. Mrs. Newsom was born July 7, 1921 in Henryetta, Oklahoma the daughter of William Hurley and Sarah Viola (Elliot) Phillips. She made her home in Tulsa for many years where she was a homemaker and a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Theodore Murrel Newsom. She is also survived by her daughter: Vickie Mellor of Calgary, Canada; her son: Philip Newsom of Monterey, California; Three Grandchildren; One Step-Grandson and One Step Great Granddaughter. Private family services will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. William E. Tankersley, III officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to National Breast Cancer Foundation.
