Obituary of Lloyd Rayl

Lloyd H. Rayl Jr. died peacefully in his sleep at home on January 11th, 2010. Rayl was born February 19th, 1918 in Apache, Oklahoma.
His family later moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he attended elementary and high school. After graduation from Okmulgee High School, attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a BA degree in accounting in 1942. While at O.U. he became a member of the Wesley Foundation where he met his future wife Sue Ridley Evertson. They married Christmas day, 1941, at McFarlin United Methodist Church in Norman.During War World II he was stationed stateside in Louisiana. After an honorable discharge he and his wife, Sue, established a home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After working for other companies for several years, following his father's advice "It's better to flip hamburgers in your own business than work for someone else." he established his own accounting practice and invested in commercial real estate.Lloyd and Sue were members of the Tulsa First Methodist Church Joyner Class for over 40 years.
Always humble and grateful for God's many blessings in his life, Lloyd served others through his church, his membership in Civitan International and the Salvation Army and as a blood donor for the American Red Cross.After retiring to Norman in 1982, Lloyd and Sue became members of Friendship International and enjoyed both traveling throughout the world and hosting many international guests. In his spare time Lloyd enjoyed researching the steps of Christ and had a special love for Israel. He and Sue visited Israel several times. Their last and most memorable visit to Israel was to participate in an archeological dig at Cesarea with the University of Oklahoma.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his father Lloyd Harrison Rayl, Sr., his mother Gertrude Rayl, and sisters Lorraine Riley and Maydean Hall. He is survived by his wife Sue Rayl of the home, son Charlie Rayl of Norman, daughter Cyndy Cashman and her husband John of Norman, grandson Zachary Cashman and his wife Desiree of Norman, granddaughter Jessica Allen and her husband Matt and great grandson Kyle of Keller, TX, sisters Natalie Pate of Oklahoma City, Yvonne Achterberg of Columbus, Indiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Memorials may be made to Bridges for Peace or Norman Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1371, Norman, Oklahoma 73070. To make an online donation simply click on the link listed below:
