Obituary of Garrett Bennett

Bennett, Garrett Austin, 17 died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, in a traffic accident. Garrett was the son of Keith and Mariann Bennett and would have been a senior in Jenks High School this fall. Garrett was born April 8, 1989 in Naperville, Illinois and moved with his family to the Tulsa area in 1997, where he was enrolled in Jenks Public Schools. Garrett was confirmed at St. James Presbyterian Church in May 2004. Active in sports, Garrett played baseball in his freshmen year at Jenks High School and played football in his sophomore and junior years, playing as many as three positions in Jenks Varsity Team. Garrett was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard and Mary Williams, and an infant brother Jacob Ryan. He is survived by his mother, Mariann Williams Bennett, his father, Keith Courtney Bennett, his brother, Andrew William Bennett, his parental grandparents, Courtney and Alice Bennett, by his uncles and aunts Thomas and Jeanne Williams; Bill and Debbie Williams; and Howard Williams. Other family members include Leslee Bennett Shell and Lee Alan Shell; Scott Alan and Stuart Lee Shell, Barbara and Wayne Cunningham and Lauren Alice Cunningham; Rhonda Mileham and her daughter Gracie. Cousins are Neil Williams, Lesley Williams Olson, Brian Williams, Erin Williams, Christina Williams Ferguson, Amanda Williams, Derek Williams and Ashley Williams. The Jenks Football team and their coach Alan Trimble, the student body, faculty personnel, school administrators and the church body of St. James Presbyterian Church are among those who mourn Garrett's passing. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Presbyterian Church, 11970 South Elm Street in Jenks with the Reverend Jane Huffstetler, officiating.
