Joe Lee McArthur was born November 23, 1928 in Tulsa, OK to Leland S. and Eula Belle (Moore) McArthur. He passed from this life Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Tulsa at the age of 83. Joe was a 1946 graduate of Tulsa's Will Rogers High School. He earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa in 1950, where he was member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Joe was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany. He was a pilot, member of the Confederate Air Force and enjoyed flying R.C. airplanes. Joe was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Michael G. Rhoades and Joe's first wife, Katherine Hagler McArthur. He is survived by his wife, Carolyne Rhoades McArthur; daughters and sons-in-law: Anne and John Allen of Crockett, TX, Leigh and Ken Mathieu of Panama City Beach, FL, Susan and Ernest Berry of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren: Val Garner and his wife, Nichole of Panama City Beach, FL, Christopher Garner of Costa Rica, Michael Allen and his wife, Jennifer of Crockett, TX, Robert Allen and his wife, Amanda of Nacogdoches, TX, Leigh-Anne Berry of Lubbock, TX, Austin Berry and his wife, Devon of Brooklyn, NY. Also, surviving are his step-children: Sam Rhoades, III and his wife, Becky, Frank R. Rhoades and his wife, Nikki, Marci R. Johnson and her husband, Stan all of Tulsa, OK; step-grandchildren: Jamie Rhoades of Tulsa, Chris Rhoades and his wife, Kari of Tulsa, Greg Rhoades and his wife, Jessica of New Orleans, LA, Frank Rhoades, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Yardley, PA, Brian Rhoades and his wife, Courtney of Charleston, SC, Tyler, Chad and Michael Rhoades all of Tulsa, Kylie Frierson and her husband, Will of Dallas, TX and Clark Johnson of Dallas, TX; 5 great grandchildren: Leland and Carson Garner, and Brady, Cleavie and Kate Allen. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Joe's memory to the American Cancer Society or Tulsa Air and Space Museum.
