Obituary of George Anderson

Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Billy Anderson passed away on the early morning of September 25, 2006 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa. Bill was born April 30, 1930 at St. John. A lifelong Tulsan, Bill attended Barnard Elementary, Wilson Junior High, Will Rogers High, and graduated from Texas Country Day (St. Mark's) in Dallas. Bill is a graduate of the University of Texas where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Shortly after graduation from UT, Bill joined his father's business, C.B. Anderson Electric Company where he was owner and president up until the day of his passing. He was national president of the Electrical Equipment Representatives Association and a volunteer for countless non-profit organizations. In 1956, Bill met Lou Coppedge, the woman who would become his wife, constant companion and best friend. December 4, 2006 will be the 50th anniversary of their wedding. Bill's infinite love of people and knowledge of sports made him a great coach for grade school softball and numerous flag and junior high school football teams. Coach Anderson was dedicated to bringing out the best in each and every player. If you wanted to play, he would show you how and help you become a winner. Bill was an active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, Sr. High Sunday School teacher and at one time sang in the choir. He made us laugh, captivated us with stories, always had a song to share and taught us to love and be loved, unconditionally. We are all grateful for the many wonderful memories from George Billy. He never stopped making friends and delighting the lives of everyone he met. Bill is survived by his wife, Lou, their daughter, Leslie Anne Anderson; son, Sonny Anderson and his wife, Ashley Anderson; daughter, Lucy Anderson and her partner, Lanell Coultas; his grandson, Chase Parmelly and his brother-in-law, Shug Coppedge (one of Bill's biggest fans). He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his beloved fuzzy companions, Georgia and Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Andy Anderson and his sister, Marjorie Gardner. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00p.m Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 3500 S. Peoria in Tulsa. Bill requested donations to the Southminster Music/Choir Department, 3500 S. Peoria, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74105, The American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Please share your thoughts and memories of Bill online at www.Ninde.com and keep the music playing. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks for the special care Bill received from Dr. Bob Melichar, Dr. Joe Moore and all of the staff at LaFortune Cancer Center.
