Obituary of Shirrell Davis

Shirrell Finley Davis DAVIS -- Shirrell Finley, 60, died on Sunday, September 24, 2006. Mrs. Davis was born on October 8, 1945 in Anadarko, OK. She earned her Bachelor and Master's degrees from the University of Oklahoma. While at OU she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority which she remained active and involved with until her death. She taught school at Skelly Junior High and Nathan Hale High School for 28 years before retiring in 1995. She was also an active member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church. She is survived by: her husband of 30 years, Dean Raymond Davis; her sons, Brian Davis, of Gladewater, TX, Keith Davis and his wife, Donna, of Mesquite, TX; and her daughter, Jill Rogers and her husband, Brad, of Perryton, TX; also 3 grandchildren, Kypher LaMar, Jaxon Rogers and Luke Rogers; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Bartholomew and her husband, Carl, of Tulsa; and her nephew, Blake Bartholomew and his wife, Stefani, of Tulsa; along with a very close family friend who she referred to as her "sister", Rita Geiger, of Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma S. and James E. Finley. The family would like to celebrate Shirrell's love and dedication to the University of Oklahoma along with her tremendous passion for Sooner Football by requesting that memorials be made to the Gamma Phi Beta (PSI Chapter) at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK or to the University of Oklahoma Foundation, Norman, OK or the charity of one's choice. Viewing will be from noon-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Ninde Woodland Chapel. Funeral service 10 a.m., Thursday, at Southern Hills United Methodist Church, 6160 S. Lewis.
