Obituary of Betty McKeel

McKeel, Betty Pippenger, 75, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at home. She was born on March 15, 1931 in Fort Wayne Indiana and was the daughter of Delbert and Bertha Pippenger. She was raised in Michie, Tennessee where she was an athletic and active child. After graduating from high school, she went to work in Memphis where she met her future husband, William J. McKeel. They were wed on December 18, 1954 and spent their first year in the Panama Canal Zone with the Navy before they settled in Oklahoma in 1956. They lived most of their lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised their three children, Simone, Betsy and Wade. Betty had a great intellect and many interests. She was an avid reader and loved to garden. Her passion was for bargains and garage sales. She was known to have the cleanest garage sales in Tulsa. Betty fought a hard battle with lung cancer and died peacefully surrounded by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Nedra King. Survivors include husband Bill; daughter Simone Lewis; daughter Betsy Low and her husband Ken Low; son Wade McKeel; four grandsons, John Low, Will Lewis, Charley Lewis and Robert Low; all of Tulsa; brother Steve Pippenger and his wife Linda of Michie, Tennessee; her sister Linda Wolfe of Lebanon Tennessee. Memorial service 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 16, 2006, Asbury United Methodist Church Mason Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 6767 S.
