Bill Bruner and his family were our next door neighbors for at least twenty five years. I was the youngest of four Powell children, three girls and a boy, and Bill was in between my two older sisters in age. Our families were very close and shared many fun times. My late brother and Bill were masters at teasing people, and pulling pranks. Nothing bad, just good clean fun. Bill told me a story recently of how he and my late brother hopped a freight train from the tracks down from our homes on North College, and road the train to downtown Tulsa. Then they got off, and hopped a train that was headed East out of downtown Tulsa. When they arrived close to home, they jumped off, and walked back to 842 and 848 North College, with their lips firmly sealed. And the secret was held by Bill for about sixty six years, which I deem very admirable.
Bill was always taking still pictures, and made many a movie of both our families. Overall he was quite a photographer, and truly enjoyed the craft.
We children spent as much time in the Bruner house as Bill and Carol spent in ours. And there was a lot of fudge making going on in those two homes both by us kids, and our moms. It was a wonderful sweet innocent time, and I am most grateful for these memories.
Rest In Peace Bill with your sweet Thelma
