Aunt Doris was my dad's sister--they were only 21 months apart in age. I think that being so close in years helped them as they were growing up. This was especially important since their father was killed in a hunting accident in 1930—right at the beginning of the Great Depression. In another time and place, Aunt Doris provided strength when her family needed it the most, and she gave us laughs when we least expected them. She will always be our cherished role model and most especially our beloved heroine—not just today, or tomorrow--but for a lifetime of tomorrows. We love you, Aunt Doris. We always will. God's Grace and Christ's Peace Forever.
