Please share a memory of Jared to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jared Ned "Hank" Hansen was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa October 26, 1921 the son of Ether Hagath (Ed) and Bertha Lucille (Heer) Hansen. Hank went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, January 3, 2011. Ned and Joyce Sandeffer were married February 25, 1942 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. To this union 3 children were born. They spent most of their 59 years together in the same home in Tulsa. Ned served his country during World War II having been honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. He grew up tough in the hills of Oklahoma which gave him a love for nature, enjoying hunting, fishing, raising animals and gardening. Ned was a skilled cabinet maker by trade, a member of the Carpenters Union for 69 years. He used his skills for the Lord, volunteering in mission building as well as for the local Baptists. With a humble spirit he was a mentor to many people, selflessly doing for others whenever the opportunity arose. Many will miss his sweet nature. He is survived by his children: Son, Ned Hansen and Doreen of Tulsa; Daughters, Carol and Christ Tharp of Ava, Missouri and Joy and Mike Bruza of Broken Arrow; daughter-in-law, Mary Hansen. His Grandchildren: Jessica Hansen, Amber and Neil Gibson, Amanda and Quinton Guest, Caroline and Josh Mathias, Katie Hansen, Emily Bruza, Erica Campbell and Jared Hansen. 9 Great Grandchildren, many "adopted" family members, a multitude of friends, and his precious church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings - Earnest, Russell, Gene and Beatrice and the love of his life, his wife Joyce. Reunited! The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in the Ninde Brookside Chapel, 5757 S. Memorial. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 6, 2011 in the Harvard Avenue Baptist Church. Private family interment will follow in the Floral Haven Cemetery with military honors. The family requests that memorials be made to Harvard Avenue Baptist Church, 3235 E. 17th, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74104 or the charity of your choice.
