Obituary of Mabel Walton

Mabel May Walton was born May 31, 1918 in Corning, Missouri to Emmett Haer and Rinna Trauernicht and passed away February 6, 2011 in Plano, Texas. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Delores Payne of Plano, TX and son, John Walton and wife, Carla of Plano, TX; four grandchildren, Angie Curley and husband, Bud of Tulsa, Andy Payne and wife, Heather of Dallas, Jeffrey Walton and partner, Matt of San Francisco and David Walton and wife, Katie of Houston; and three great-grandchildren, Nick Curley, Katie Curley, and Anna Clare Payne. Mabel, the youngest of eight siblings, was the granddaughter of George Haer, who came to this country from Hanover, Germany in 1845 and settled on a farm in Craig, Missouri. Mabel never met a stranger and was always there to help anyone in their time of need. She was a faithful friend, a loving and caring mother and devoted all her time making sure her family was protected. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Byron W. Walton. Mabel and Byron were members of the First Baptist Church of Tulsa for over 40 years and supported and participated in many of the church functions. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2011 at Ninde Brookside Chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 750, Dallas, Texas 75204.
