Obituary of Loren Rumsey

Loren Allen Rumsey was born December 5, 1925 in Big Cabin, Oklahoma the son of John Herbert and Viola Nell (Jones) Rumsey. He completed this life on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 85.
Loren served our country in the U. S. Navy during World War II from February 1944 until his honorable discharge on May 8th, 1946. He served aboard the U.S.S. Tennessee receiving a Victory Medal, Asiatic Campaign Medal (5 stars) and Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon (1 star).
After the war he returned to Oklahoma where he began working as an Industrial Fabricator and a machinist.
Loren married Helen Berniece Mullins on August 21, 1948 in Sapulpa. They made their home in Tulsa for many years and later in Broken Arrow where they were members of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Berniece; his daughter, Dianna Wetzel of Broken Arrow; his son, Gorman Rumsey and his wife Brenda of Tulsa; his sisters, Loretta Quinterio of Indiana and Mildred Livingston of Grand Lake, Oklahoma; four Grandchildren and seven great Grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Hope Harbor Children's Home, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, Oklahoma 74018.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Ninde Woodland Funeral Home. Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in the Ninde Woodland Chapel, 5757 S. Memorial. Interment will be in Floral Haven Cemetery.
